mtc: week #1

Como estas?!?!

There is so much  to tell you about the CCM. It has been a wonderful learning and growing experience thus far. I am in a trio! Hrma Westergard is from Massachusetts. Tall skinny red head with ridiculously curly hair. Hrma Pinter from Virgina brown hair blue eyes and me blonde brown eyes. We got it all covered!

I have an amazing CCM teacher. Hrmo Call is his name. He is from Colorado. My espanol has improved so much, I love speaking spanish. We are teaching an" investigator", Silvio.. it is really difficult to teach the gospel in another language. Especially when you want to say some many things that you can testify of, but don't know how to say them in SPA. I know it will get better though as I practice.

GUESS WHAT!>!>!>!>!?!?!?! MY VISA came in! I have to go to Las Vegas to pick it up! I''m so excited to get out for a day and teach people. All missionaries that are going to MExico have to go and pick their Visa up. Some ppl go to Las Vegas, some SLC, and some to Boise. I have to get up at 400am and be at the bus by 430..we are flying and will be back in the evening around 8pm. It will be an adventure forsure.

On Sunday we had RS broadcast from the main campus(FYI if you didn't know, I am not on the main campus. All of our classes are in an appt complex the church bought and then we live across the street in Wyview.) We got to listen to Janice Kapp Perry and we sang a lot of songs with her that she wrote. It was an awesome experience!
My district is all girls, there are just 5 of us so we are pretty small. We all sang in the MTC choir for our Tues night Devo. It was AWESOME!!! we sang called to serve (an arrangement that the MTC prez wife wrote) and then I feel my Saviors Love. It was so beautiful and the spirit was so strong. It was the biggest MTC choir they have ever had. 1/3 missionaries were singing in the choir!

Our speaker was Elder Martino of the 70. Wow, what am amazing speaker. He talked about Alma and Amulek and how Alma was a bit discouraged when he was rejected by the people. As he left he was visited by and Angel "blessed art thou Alma..." The angel first blessed him for his efforts, then he was prompted to go back and he met Amulek (the LA member) He taught Amulek and his family and his friends. Then he and Alma went back into the city " by another way.." Alma was trying another way, he and Amulek were received this time by Amuleks friends and they taught the people.  I encourage you all to read Alma 8-14 and try to find these things and more. We need to be like Alma and teach those who are ready to receive it. I know that these things are true. I know that we must serve the Lord wit hall our heart might mind and strength.  There are a multitude of ways we can share the gospel as Prez Monson has said. Share the gospel in a way that is meaningful to each person. We teach people not lessons is what we are told all the time in the CCM. I know that is true and that we must pray for specific people and find ways that we can bring them closer to Christ. Something else I learned this week was about how important it is to turn outward and serve others when we are feeling down and really all the time. The Savior always turned outward. Whenever he was tempted, he turned outward and served someone. He is our best example and we too must learn from Him in that way.

THe MTC is amazing!! I am learning so much every day It is fun, and challenging at times being in a trio. I'm grateful to be here though and I know the Lord has so much in store for me and each one of us to do here on this earth.

I hope you have a wonderful week! I would love to hear from you, you can write to me on dearelder.com and they will print out the letter the same day and give it to me... you just need my MTC info to do it so here it is.
